As part of being their guardian we will organise homestay placements for students during exeats, half terms and Easter holidays. Where possible this is with us as their guardians, but sometimes it will be with other carefully selected host families. All our host families are known personally to us – we do not advertise for them. They come with different backgrounds, some from education, some have children of own or children who are now grown up. The thing they all have in common is an interest for children and young people and for caring for them in a supportive, fun and responsible way. We aim to match ages and interests and endeavour to place students consistently with the same host families so that they develop long term relationships.
Apart from making their stay enjoyable and safe, the focus is on ensuring that students use this time to recuperate from a busy term, learn new skills and practise their English in a different environment. It goes without saying that all adult members of our host families have undergone enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks and are selected on the basis that they offer the same standard of care as we do.
Parents say:
“Their host families are loving and caring.”
“Always careful about finding the right match for a particular child.”
“Provided a comfortable home for our daughter with just the right balance of care and discipline.”
